A.P.C. Me

I'm head over heels about the current winter collection by A.P.C. Who isn't? If I had the pennies in my pocket right now, I would happily buy every single item and feel no need to buy anything ever again.

They're simply the sort of timeless designs that you lust after, when leather biker jackets and lamé leggings just don't cut it anymore.

A.P.C's equally chic defusion line Madras has many a tempting garment on offer also, yet at more of a credit crunch friendly price. I'm obsessing over the brown suede Mary Janes.

Gimme Some Bloglovin'

I'm following Daddy Likey's lead and getting hooked up with Bloglovin', a great site that allows you to keep up-to-date with your favourite blogs.

So if you like what you see here at Ophelia Ford, follow my blog with Bloglovin´, it would totally make my day.

Sale Selection: Net-A-Porter

My picks from the current Net-A-Porter sale are a much more formal style than I would find myself wearing on any given day, but that doesn't mean they are any less covetable.

The Corsage Vinyl Sandals by Alexander McQueen are perfectly romantic, without being sickly sweet, thanks to the futuristic aesthetic added by the use of clear vinyl and perspex.

You really have to click on the link to enjoy the true detailing of the RM by Roland Mouret Pan Skirt. Exposed zip running down the back, art-deco style hem and inverted pleating make for a true signature piece.

Sale Selection: La Garçonne

Most of the fabulous online boutiques are currently holding a sale on summer stock and I couldn't help but point out a few of my favourite pieces.

The above Alexander Wang Cropped Pleat Trench and Heimstone Robe Murena are items that I would live in right now, perfect for layering and autumn outings.

Both available from La Garçonne.

The Whale

I'm currently trying to read Moby-Dick by Herman Melville. I say trying because attempting to make a good job of a book when you hardly have any spare time at all, is quite a task and also, it is a style of literature somewhat outside my comfort zone.

On another note, my laptop is still down and out, but I will try my best to publish a few sneaky posts from the library or my brother's laptop.

The adorable illustration is by Eveline Tarunadjaja.

Double Double Toil And Trouble

I've never been one for Halloween. In other words, I usually hate this time of year! But for some unknown reason, I'm super excited about next Friday the 31st.

Maybe it's the crunchy, golden leaves making my daily path to college a little more pleasant or the candy apples and life-size tarantulas on display amongst the pumpkins and monkey nuts in Fallon & Byrne, igniting a sense of dormant nostalgia in me.

All I know is that after a reading week from college spent in the library, in an attempt to tackle two projects and an assignment, I'm looking forward to donning my pink wig and purse full of candy, to dance the night away.

Currently Coveting

This bag isn't going to be around for long, as it was recently featured on Style as a current fall must-have, as well as the cult status it's vintage, crocodile skin contemporary gained, due to being Ashley Olsen's pièce de résistance a year or so ago.

I'm enthralled; it is just my ideal bag through and through. Streamlined, functional, effortlessly chic and eternally classic.

But at $1,630.00 at Bergdorf Goodman, I just hope that Fendi takes the hint and adds it to their classic line, so that in years to come, when I've reached an age appropriate to be toting Fendi pieces and have made my millions, I can finally feed my obsession.

Be Right Back

A million apologies for my recent lack of posting; my MacBook Pro is completely out of order until I find a spare 90 euro floating about, in order to replace my faulty charger.

I have a list of different topics I want to write about piling up, but until I sort out my laptop, I guess I'll just have to catch up on the Accounting homework I've been neglecting.

Until then, I leave you with a wonderful editorial picture taken by one of my favorites, Camille Vivier.

Irish Pride

It's so exciting to see an Irish model walking for some of the biggest names during the month of Fashion Weeks. She may be young, but she's a seasoned pro on the runway, as her collection of photos on Style prove.

Chloé Catastrophe

I usually don't like to openly criticize people's work, but exaggerated scalloped edges? And what is that colour? It looks like the hue of that horrible salmon paté they give to you as an appetiser in every restaurant in the Algarve.

I have never hated a Chloé collection before, but I detested Hannah MacGibbon's debut for the line yesterday in Paris. The 38 year old British designer who previously assisted Phoebe Philo has, in my opinion, gotten off to a shaky start.

Thank God for Alber, he restored my faith in Paris SS09, after I tentatively crept back onto Style today, hoping not to be heart-shatteringly dissapointed by another of my favorites.

Voluminous draping, chic cuts, jewel colours, duchess satin and signature Lanvin elegance. I sighed and swooned and dreamt of the day that I can buy a wardrobe of Alber's creations.

Fake Karl Forever

Who doesn't want to be Karl Lagerfeld's BFF? His illegitimate love child? His butler, maid, gardener?! Straight up, Karl Lagerfeld is King and anything he puts his leather-driving-glove bedecked finger to, turns to gold.

But then there's Fake Karl and friends. We're talking Karl Lagerfeld's Guide To Life, with contributors Fake Anna, Fake Yves and Fake Rei. If you don't have a clue what I'm talking about it's ok, there's still time for enlightenment.

All you have to do is click on the link above and decide for yourself; if it is possibly the wittiest fashion blog making the rounds at present, or if you're possibly just too 'demode' to get it.

I'm about my third week back to college and I still haven't found the perfect bag to tote all those six pound economics and marketing books around with.

I think I may have met my match in this Karl Talks Fashion Tote from The Church of Karl Lagerfeld, featuring Rei, Yves, Marc, Anna and Alber. As the man himself would say 'So chic, hmm?'

Fake Karl, I'm hooked.

Plastic Family

The BT2 store window display is usually the most eclectic and exciting on Grafton Street and I pretty much did a double take when I saw their new offering this season.

The artist Robert Bradford's unique sculptures were the reason I had to stop and stare, as upon closer inspection, it appeared they were completely made out of recycled materials, mainly plastic toys.

I later received an email from BT2, announcing their collaboration with the artist, in aid of Repak Ireland's annual Recycling Week. Yet another stylish way to catch people's attention and raise awareness of the need to recycle.

Details I Adore

There are those small little details that can make an otherwise average garment, something special and treasurable. Some of my favorites are listed below.

Broderie Anglaise... Exposed Zips... Gold Hardware... Grosgrain Ribbon... Luxurious Lining... Satin Bows... Velvet Collars.

I absolutely adore my Marc by Marc Jacobs grey winter coat from last season, mostly because of it's fuchsia pink heavy satin lining.

The thick exposed zip running down the spine of my chiffon Lux dress from Urban Outfitters stood it apart from any other floral print dress I considered purchasing at the time.

And the black, grosgrain ribbon I used to make shoulder straps, when altering a red plaid strapless wool top, turned a second hand find into a wardrobe jewel.

Penny Loafers have slowly been making a comeback for the last while, to the excitement of some and dismay of others. I belong to the former group, having a soft spot for anything with preppy or old-school charm.

Topshop currently stock my favorite take on the style and I'm dieing to get my hands on a pair.

Perfectly Illustrated

When I started this blog, I published a post declaring my love for the wonderful Garance Doré and her stunning illustrations. If you haven't already checked out her blog, do so now, it's utterly magnifique.

The above image is definitely one of my favourites, immortalizing Alber's charming cartoon tank top for Lanvin. If I could, I would cover my walls in Garance's prints.

Bella Stella

A few things spring to mind when I think of Stella McCartney. The fact she pretty much re-invented Chloé back in the day, the staunch vegan ethos she follows when producing garments and accessories and the way she loves to send jumpsuits and tuxedo jackets down the runway, nearly every season.

Her SS09 show was signature Stella, laid back, sexy and up for a good time. I adore the above fusion of her aforementioned design favorites, the jumpsuit tuxedo.
