I have a fetish for well-constructed magazines; ones with different textures, layers and page colours, and The Gentlewoman is truly one of those editorial delights.

Inez van Lamsweerde's self-portrait on the cover initially freaked me out, but once I read her reasoning behind it ("The portraits with the beard are, for me, about my whole obsession with dualism: the beautiful and the grotesque, being repulsed and attracted, androgyny"), I warmed to it.

The styling of Pheobe Philo on the cover of issue number one was more to my taste, but the content of issue number two was far more interesting; interviews with MT Carney (the new President of Marketing at Walt Disney Studios), Ashley Olsen and Joan Juliet Buck, to name but a few.
Roll on Spring Summer 2011, issue number three!

Ohmfguh. I'm way to excirah about this. I'm going on a hunt today for mags, but above all The Gentlewoman! Thanks for the preview. x
I bought a copy of this a few weeks ago and I loves it, so I do. A magazine for Women with a capital W - and you're totally right about the tactility of the paper, turning pages was a total delight!
